The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Who will be honoured 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 And shade extended 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virginal, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
