Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O you wrapped in garments (i.e. Prophet Muhammad SAW)! 1 Arise [to pray] the night, except for a little - 2 Half of it, or a little less than that, 3 or add to it [at will]; and [during that time] recite the Qur'an calmly and distinctly, with thy mind attuned to its meaning. 4 Behold, We shall bestow upon thee a weighty message 5 Truly the rising by night is most potent for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (framing) the Word (of Prayer and Praise). 6 Verily there is for thee by day occupation prolonged. 7 And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with (exclusive) devotion. 8 Lord of the East and the West; there is no god but He; so take Him for a Guardian. 9 And bear thou with patience whatsoever they say, and depart from them with a becoming departure. 10 And leave them to Me – these wealthy deniers – and give them some respite. 11 We have in store for them heavy fetters and a blazing Fire, 12 And food that chokes and a painful punishment, 13 On a day when the earth and the mountains will tremble, and the mountains turn into dunes of flowing sand. 14 We have sent a messenger who is a witness over you, just as We sent a messenger to Pharoah before you. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger; so We seized him with a heavy Punishment. 16 If you disbelieve, how will you guard yourself against the Day that will make children gray haired, 17 The heavens itself will be rent asunder (on that day). His promise is bound to be fulfilled. 18 Verily this is an admonition; let him therefore, who will, choose a way unto his Lord. 19
