The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 Then those who regulate the affair. 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” 10 even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 and they will be upon the surface of the earth (alive). 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself? 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 Moses showed him the great sign, 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. 26
