Thamood cried lies to the Envoys 141 Behold, their brother Salih said to them: "Will you not fear (Allah)? 142 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you 143 So fear Allah and obey me. 144 And I do not ask you any reward for it; my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds: 145 Will you be left secure in this, 146 amidst the gardens, springs, 147 sown fields, and palms with slender spathes? 148 Will you still skilfully hew houses out of the mountains? 149 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 150 do not obey the bidding of those who are given to excesses, 151 who do corruption in the earth, and set not things aright.' 152 They said, "You are only of those affected by magic. 153 "Thou art no more than a mortal like us: then bring us a Sign, if thou tellest the truth!" 154 He said, “This is the she-camel – one day shall be her turn to drink, and on the other appointed day, shall be your turn.” 155 And touch her not with ill, lest there take hold of you the torment of a Mighty Day. 156 But they hamstrung her, then regretted; 157 For they were seized by the torment. Verily there was a sign in this, but most of them did not believe. 158 Your Lord, He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 159
