۞ Say to them, "I exhort you to do one thing: and that is to stand up before God in pairs, or singly, and then reflect. You will thus realize that your companion is not afflicted with madness. He is only a warner, warning you of an impending severe chastisement." 46 Say: "No reward have I ever asked of you [out of anything] that is yours: my reward rests with none but God, and He is witness unto everything!" 47 Say: 'My Lord hurls the truth -- the Knower of the Unseen.' 48 Proclaim, “The truth has come, and falsehood dare not commence nor return.” 49 Say: "If I am in error it is to my own loss; if I am on guidance that is so because of what my Lord reveals to me. He is all-hearing and all-too-near." 50 Couldst thou but see when they are terrified with no escape, and are seized from near at hand, 51 and say: 'We believe in it' But how can they reach from a place that is distant, 52 When they disbelieved in it of yore. They aim at the unseen from afar off. 53 And a gulf is set between them and that which they desire, as was done for people of their kind of old. Lo! they were in hopeless doubt. 54
