The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of (mount) Tur. 1 and by the Scripture penned 2 On a parchment scroll unrolled, 3 by the House inhabited 4 And the roof exalted, 5 and by the swelling sea, 6 VERILY, [O man,] the suffering decreed by thy Sustainer [for the sinners] will indeed come to pass: 7 there is no one who could avert it, 8 A day on which the heavens will shake with a visible shaking. 9 and the mountains will move with [an awesome] movement. 10 woe that day unto those that cry lies, 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 Then is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 Rejoicing because of what their Lord gave them, and their Lord saved them from the punishment of the burning fire. 18 "Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do." 19 They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose progeny follow them in belief. We shall cause their progeny to join them, and We shall not diminish unto them aught of their own work. Every man is for that which he hath earned a pledge. 21 And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. 22 and in that [paradise] they shall pass on to one another a cup which will not give rise to empty talk, and neither incite to sin. 23 ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. 24 They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. 25 "Before this, when we were among our families, we were full of fear of God's displeasure -- 26 Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch. 27 before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
