When the messengers came to Lot and his family, 61 He said: "Ye appear to be uncommon folk." 62 They said: Nay, but we bring thee that concerning which they keep disputing, 63 "We have brought to thee that which is inevitably due, and assuredly we tell the truth. 64 "Then travel in a part of the night with your family, and you go behind them in the rear, and let no one amongst you look back, but go on to where you are ordered." 65 And We communicated to him the decree that by the morning those people will be totally destroyed. 66 The people of the town came along, revelling, 67 He said: 'These are my guests; do not shame me. 68 but be conscious of God and disgrace me not!" 69 They replied: 'Have we not forbidden you (the people of) the worlds' 70 He said: These are my daughters, if you will do (aught). 71 By your life, they wandered on in their wild intoxication 72 At sunrise a dreadful Shout seized them. 73 and We turned those [sinful towns] upside down, and rained down upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement pre-ordained. 74 Verily, in all this there are messages indeed for those who can read the signs: 75 And the (cities were) right on the high-road. 76 Indeed there is a portent in this for those who believe. 77 The dwellers of the Thicket were harmdoers. 78 We therefore took revenge from them; and indeed both these townships are situated on an open road. 79
