And recite to them the tiding of Abraham 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 or do they cause you any benefit or harm?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 "Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 whereas the blazing fire will be laid open before those who had been lost in grievous error; 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 It was the evildoers who led us astray, 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor a true friend; 101 "'Now if we only had a chance of return we shall truly be of those who believe!'" 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
