The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 for he believes himself to be self-sufficient. 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
