Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
