Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O you who are wrapped up in your mantle, 1 Stand up in Prayer by night, all but a small part of it; 2 Half of it,- or a little less, 3 or a little more; and with recitation, recite the Koran. 4 Verily, We shall send down to you a weighty Word (i.e. obligations, legal laws, etc.). 5 [and,] verily, the hours of night impress the mind most strongly and speak with the clearest voice, 6 You are indeed much occupied during the day with the affairs of the world. 7 But [whether by night or by day,] remember thy Sustainer's name, and devote thyself unto Him with utter devotion. 8 He is the only Lord, so choose Him as your guardian. 9 And be patient (O Muhammad SAW) with what they say, and keep away from them in a good way. 10 Leave Me to deal with the deniers, lords of ease and comfort (in this life); and do thou respite them awhile. 11 Indeed We have heavy fetters and a blazing fire. 12 And a Food that chokes, and a Penalty Grievous. 13 One Day the earth and the mountains will be in violent commotion. And the mountains will be as a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. 14 We have sent a messenger who is a witness over you, just as We sent a messenger to Pharoah before you. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed Our Messenger, so We seized him with a terrible seizing. 16 How then, if you disbelieve, will you preserve yourselves on the day which will even turn the children hoary? 17 Whereon the sky will be cleft asunder? His Promise needs must be accomplished. 18 This is indeed an advice; so whoever wishes may take the path towards his Lord. 19
