The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 The reward for what they did. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and continuous shade, 30 Gushing water, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virginal, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
