And when the envoys came to the family of Lot, 61 he said, "You seem to be strangers". 62 They said: "Nay, we have come to you with that (torment) which they have been doubting. 63 We have come to you for a genuine purpose and We are true in what we say. 64 So set out with your family in a watch of the night, and keep yourself behind them, and no one of you may turn around, and keep going ahead as you have been commanded." 65 We issued this command to him, for they were going to be destroyed in the morning. 66 The people of the town rejoicingly 67 and he told them, "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 but be conscious of God and disgrace me not!" 69 They replied: "Did we not forbid you again and again to extend hospitality to all and sundry?" 70 [Lout (Lot)] said: "These (the girls of the nation) are my daughters (to marry lawfully), if you must act (so)." 71 [But the angels spoke thus:] "As thou livest, [O Lot, they will not listen to thee:] behold, in their delirium [of lust] they are but blindly stumbling to and fro!" 72 So they were seized by the mighty blast at break of day; 73 We turned the town upside-down and showered on them lumps of baked clay. 74 Behold! in this are Signs for those who by tokens do understand. 75 surely it is on a way yet remaining; 76 Indeed in that is a sign for the believers. 77 And the dwellers in the wood [i.e. the people of Madyan (Midian) to whom Prophet Shu'aib was sent by Allah), were also Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.). 78 So We inflicted retribution on them, and they are both, indeed, on an open road (still) pursued. 79
