۞ To Abraham We gave the right guidance and We knew him very well. 51 Recall, when he said to his father and his people: "What are these images to which you are devoutly clinging?" 52 They answered: "We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 Abraham said, "Indeed, you and your fathers have been clearly misguided." 54 They said: hast thou come unto us with the truth, or art thou of those who sport? 55 He said, "Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, He Who created them (from nothing): and I am a witness to this (Truth). 56 And, by Allah, I shall circumvent your idols after ye have gone away and turned your backs. 57 So he smashed them up to pieces with the exception of the biggest, so that they may turn to it. 58 (When the people came to the temple and saw the broken idols) they asked each other, "Who has done this to our gods? He certainly is an unjust person". 59 They said, "We heard a young man mention them who is called Abraham." 60 Said they: Then bring him before the eyes of the people, perhaps they may bear witness. 61 They said: art thou the one who hath wrought this unto our gods, O Ibrahim? 62 He answered, "Rather this biggest one of them did it. Ask them, if they can speak." 63 Then gathered they apart and said: Lo! ye yourselves are the wrong-doers. 64 Then their minds were turned upside down, and they said: "You know well that they do not speak." 65 He said: worship ye, then, beside Allah, that which profiteth you not at all, nor it hurteth you? 66 Fie on you and those you worship besides God! Will you not understand?" 67 They said, "Burn him to ashes if you want to help your gods". 68 We said: "O fire, become coolness and safety for Abraham." 69 They had devised an evil plan (against Abraham), but We turned it into failure." 70 And We rescued him and Lout (Lot) to the land which We have blessed for the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 71 And We bestowed on him Isaac, and Jacob as an additional gift, and made them righteous. 72 And We made them into leaders to guide people in accordance with Our command, and We inspired them to good works, and to establish Prayers and to give Zakah. They worshipped Us alone. 73 To Lot We gave wisdom and knowledge, and saved him from a people who acted villainously and were certainly wicked and disobedient. 74 We admitted him to Our Mercy, he was among the righteous. 75
