The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night! 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 Let the human being reflect that from what he has been created. 5 He was created of spurting water 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead). 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 Consider the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 And it is no joke. 14 They are cunningly devising, 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 So leave the unbelievers to themselves; respite them awhile. 17
