The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 he was created of gushing water 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 Then he shall have no power nor any helper. 10 So I call to witness the rain-producing sky, 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 not a flippant jest. 14 They (disbelievers) plot every evil plan, 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 So leave the unbelievers to themselves; respite them awhile. 17
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
