Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Alif-Lam-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings.] 1 These are the verses of the sagacious Book, 2 a guidance and mercy for the doers of good, 3 people who are steadfast in prayer, pay the religious tax, and have firm belief in the life to come. 4 Those are upon guidance from their Lord; those are the prosperers. 5 Some men there are who buy diverting talk to lead astray from the way of God without knowledge, and to take it in mockery; those -- there awaits them a humbling chastisement. 6 For, whenever Our messages are conveyed to such a one, he turns away in his arrogance as though he had not heard them - as though there were deafness in his ears. Give him, then, the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come]. 7 Verily those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be Gardens of Delight. 8 They shall abide in them forever. This is Allah's promise that shall come true. He is the Most Powerful, the Most Wise. 9 He created the heavens without any pillars visible to you and He placed mountains in the earth as pegs lest it should turn topsy turvy with you, and He dispersed all kinds of animals over the earth, and sent down water from the sky causing all kinds of excellent plants to grow on it. 10 Allah has created this – therefore show me what has been created by those other than Him; in fact the unjust are in open error. 11
