Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Ha Mim 1 By the Book that makes things clear,- 2 Lo! We have appointed it a Lecture, in Arabic that haply ye may understand. 3 It is inscribed in the original Book (of Books) with Us, sublime, dispenser of (all) laws. 4 Shall We turn away the Remembrance from you, for that you are a prodigal people? 5 Many a prophet had We sent to the earlier communities, 6 but whenever a prophet came to them, they mocked him, 7 So We destroyed (them)- stronger in power than these;- and (thus) has passed on the Parable of the peoples of old. 8 Yet, if you ask them who created the heavens and the earth, they will answer: 'The Almighty, the Knower created them' 9 Who made the earth a resting-place for you, and placed roads for you therein, that haply ye may find your way; 10 And Who sends down water (rain) from the sky in due measure. Then We revive a dead land therewith, and even so you will be brought forth (from the dead), 11 He who created pairs of everything, and fashioned for you boats and beasts on which you ride, 12 That ye may mount upon their backs, and may remember your Lord's favour when ye mount thereon, and may say: Glorified be He Who hath subdued these unto us, and we were not capable (of subduing them); 13 And surely to our Lord we must return. 14 And they appoint for Him from His bondmen a part! Verily man is an ingrate manifest. 15
