Seest thou one who turns back, 33 Who gives but little, and is niggardly? 34 Does he have knowledge of the hidden, so he can foresee? 35 Or hath he not had news of what is in the books of Moses 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his trust? -- 37 That no soul laden bears the load of another, 38 and that man shall have nothing but what he has striven for, 39 And that his effort will soon be scrutinised? 40 Then he will be fully repaid for it? 41 and that the final return is to your Lord, 42 that it is He who causes to laugh and causes to weep. 43 And that it is He Who gave death and gave life? 44 That He created pairs, male and female, 45 from a discharged living germ 46 and that upon Him rests the second growth, 47 And that it is He (Allah) Who gives much or a little (or gives wealth and contentment), 48 and that He is the Lord of (the star) Sirius, 49 and that He destroyed Ad, the ancient, 50 And Thamud - and He did not spare [them] - 51 And the people of Nuh before; surely they were most unjust and inordinate; 52 and He overthrew the subverted cities [of Sodom and Gomorrah] 53 and then covered them from sight forever. 54 On which then of your Lord's signs do you cast doubt? 55 This [Prophet] is a warner like the former warners. 56 There hath approached the approaching Hour. 57 None except Allah can avert it. 58 Do you then find these tidings strange? 59 And you laugh at it and weep not, 60 And you are lost in play! 61 Prostrate yourselves before God, and worship Him alone! ۩ 62
