Before him Noah cried out to Us, and We heard his prayer. We saved him and all his household from a great distress. 76 We helped him against people who rejected Our Signs: truly they were a people given to Evil: so We drowned them (in the Flood) all together. 77 David and Solomon were trying to settle the case of the people's sheep that grazed in a corn-field at night. We witnessed their decree in that matter. 78 We made Solomon understand the law about the case and gave both David and Solomon knowledge and wisdom. We made the mountains and birds glorify the Lord along with David. We had also done to him such favors before. 79 And We taught him the making of coats of mail for you, that they might protect you in your wars; will you then be grateful? 80 To Solomon the raging wind ran at his command to the land which We had blessed. We have knowledge of all things. 81 And of the evil ones (subdued We unto him) some who dived (for pearls) for him and did other work, and We were warders unto them. 82 ۞ And Job, when he cried unto his Lord, (saying): Lo! adversity afflicteth me, and Thou art Most Merciful of all who show mercy. 83 Therefore We responded to him and took off what harm he had, and We gave him his family and the like of them with them: a mercy from Us and a reminder to the worshippers. 84 And Isma'il and ldris and Zul-Kifl! each were of the patient. 85 And We admitted them to Our Mercy. Verily, they were of the righteous. 86 Remember the man in the whale [Jonah] when he went away in anger, thinking We had no power over him. But he cried out in the darkness, "There is no deity but You. Glory be to You! I was indeed wrong." 87 We heard his prayer and saved him from grief. As such We shall save the believers. 88 And (remember) Zakariya, when he cried to his Lord: "O my Lord! leave me not without offspring, though thou art the best of inheritors." 89 We therefore heard his prayer; and bestowed him Yahya, and cured his wife for him; indeed they used to hasten to perform good deeds, and pray to Us with hope and fear; and used to weep before Us. 90 And she who guarded her chastity, so We breathed into her of Our inspiration and made her and her son a sign for the nations. 91 Verily this your order is one order, and I am your Lord; so worship Me. 92 But men have torn their unity wide asunder, [forgetting that] unto Us they all are bound to return. 93
