The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 [on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself]. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
