The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
