So exhort (them, O Prophet), for by your Lord's Grace, you are neither a soothsayer nor a madman. 29 Or say they: a poet for whom we wait some adverse turn of fortune! 30 say [to them], "Wait then: I too am waiting along with you!" -- 31 Does their reason tell them to say this or is it because they are a rebellious people? 32 Or say they: He hath invented it? Nay, but they will not believe! 33 Then let them bring an announcement like it if they are truthful. 34 Or were they created by nothing, or were they the creators [of themselves]? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay! they have no certainty. 36 Are with them the treasures of thy Lord! or are they the dispensers? 37 Do they have a ladder (by which they can climb up to the heavens) and listen (to the angels) and come back to the rest of the people with clear authority? 38 Does God have daughters while you have sons? 39 Or askest thou them for a wage, and so they are weighed down with debt? 40 Do they have knowledge of the unseen, thus, are able to predict (the future)? 41 Or are they contriving a stratagem against you? If so, that stratagem will rebound against the unbelievers. 42 Or do they have a God besides Allah? Purity is to Allah from their ascribing of partners to Him. 43 If they should see a part of the heavens falling down, they would say, "A mass of clouds," 44 So leave them alone until they face the day when they will be struck dead from terror 45 the day when their guile shall avail them naught, and they shall not be helped. 46 And verily, for those who do wrong, there is another punishment (i.e. the torment in this world and in their graves) before this, but most of them know not. [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 27, Page 36]. 47 So wait patiently for the Judgement of your Lord -- you are certainly under Our watchful eye. And glorify and celebrate the praises of your Lord when you rise up [from your sleep]. 48 And in the night-time also hymn His praise, and at the setting of the stars. 49
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
