Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 In a Garden on high, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 and couches raised high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
