The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount Sinai, 1 by the book (Torah) written 2 in a parchment unrolled, 3 Consider the long-enduring house [of worship]! 4 By the Canopy Raised High; 5 And the sea kept filled, 6 VERILY, [O man,] the suffering decreed by thy Sustainer [for the sinners] will indeed come to pass: 7 there is none to prevent it. 8 (It shall come to pass) on the Day when the heaven will convulse in a great convulsion, 9 The mountains move and fly away, 10 Woe, then, on that Day to those who give the lie (to this Message) 11 Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. 12 On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire 13 "This is the fire which you were wont to call a lie! 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds." 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire. 18 (And it is said unto them): Eat and drink in health (as a reward) for what ye used to do, 19 Reclining upon couches ranged in rows; and We shall espouse them to wide-eyed houris. 20 The offspring of the believers will also follow them to Paradise. So shall We join their offspring to them because of their faith. We shall reduce nothing from their deeds. Everyone will be responsible for his own actions. 21 And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. 22 They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. 23 ۞ And young attendants like pearls within their shells, will go round. 24 And they will advance unto each other asking questions. 25 'When we were among our people' they will say, 'we were ever fearful, 26 “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” 27 Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
