Nay! By the moon 32 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 33 The morning when it is unveiled, 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 it is a warning to man, 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 Every soul is mortgaged for its own deeds. 38 except those of the right hand 39 [Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 and we plunged along with the plungers, 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 Why then do they turn away from the admonition 49 as if they were startled asses 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 No! Indeed, the Qur'an is a reminder 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
