The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
