The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the Mount (Sinai), 1 And the Book written 2 on fine parchment; 3 Consider the long-enduring house [of worship]! 4 And by the roof raised high (i.e. the heaven). 5 and by the swelling sea, 6 Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;- 7 There is none who could avert it. 8 [It will come to pass] on the Day when the skies will be convulsed in [a great] convulsion, 9 And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, 10 So on that day, ruin is for those who deny. 11 all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain 12 On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): 13 and they will be told, "This is the fire which you called a lie. 14 Is this magic, or do ye not see? 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 Surely the God-fearing shall be in Gardens and bliss, 17 rejoicing in all that their Sustainer will have granted them: for their Sustainer will have warded off from them all suffering through the blazing fire. 18 "Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do." 19 They will recline on couches arranged in rows and We shall couple them with maidens with large, lovely eyes. 20 And as for those who have attained to faith and whose offspring will have followed them in faith, We shall unite them with their offspring; and We shall not let aught of their deeds go to waste: [but] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire. 22 They will pass cups of un-intoxicating and unsinful wine to one another. 23 ۞ And young attendants like pearls within their shells, will go round. 24 And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other. 25 Saying: Lo! of old, when we were with our families, we were ever anxious; 26 But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: 27 Verily, we did invoke Him [alone] ere this: [and now He has shown us] that He alone is truly benign, a true dispenser of grace!" 28
