The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
