The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ruin is for the defrauders. (Those who measure less.) 1 Who insist on being given full when they take from others, 2 but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe to others, give less than what is due! 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 On a Mighty Day, 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - 8 it is a written record. 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 Those that deny the Day of Judgment. 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 When Our revelations are conveyed to him, he says, "Fables of the ancients!" 13 Not at all – but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 Then, it will be said to them: "This is what you used to deny!" 17 But, the record of the righteous is [preserved] in the 'Illiyyin -- 18 and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 Behold, [in the life to come] the truly virtuous will indeed be in bliss: 22 (reclining) upon couches they will gaze, 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 which have the fragrance of musk. This is the kind of place for which one should really aspire. 26 And the admixture of it is a water of Tasnim, 27 A spring from which those near [to Allah] drink. 28 Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 and, on returning to their people, boast about what they had done. 31 and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], "These men have surely gone astray," 32 And withal, they have no call to watch over [the beliefs of] others... 33 So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. 34 On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). 35 Will not the disbelievers then be duly recompensed for their laughing at the believers? 36
