And Aaron had already told them before [the return of Moses], "O my people, you are only being tested by it, and indeed, your Lord is the Most Merciful, so follow me and obey my order." 90 They replied: 'We will not stop; we will cling to it until Moses returns to us.' 91 He (Moses) said to Aaron: 'When you saw them in error, what prevented you, 92 so that thou didst not follow after me? Didst thou then disobey my commandment?' 93 'Son of my mother' he replied, 'Do not seize my beard nor my head. I was afraid that you might say: "You have divided the Children of Israel and did not uphold my word." 94 'You, Samaritan' said he (Moses), 'what was your business' 95 He answered: "I have gained insight into something which they were unable to see: and so I took hold of a handful of the Apostle's teachings and cast it away: for thus has my mind prompted me [to act]." 96 He said: Begone then, surely for you it will be in this life to say, Touch (me) not; and surely there is a threat for you, which shall not be made to fail to you, and look at your god to whose worship you kept (so long); we will certainly burn it, then we will certainly scatter it a (wide) scattering in the sea. 97 Your only deity is God, there is no deity but Him. His knowledge encompasses all things." 98 THUS DO WE relate unto thee some of the stories of what happened in the past; and [thus] have We vouchsafed unto thee, out of Our grace, a reminder. 99 Whoso turneth away from it, he verily will bear a burden on the Day of Resurrection, 100 They will remain in it forever – what an evil burden it will be for them on the Day of Resurrection! 101 The Day whereon the trumpet will be blown into, and We shall gather the culprits on that Day blear-eyed, 102 Mutterin among themselves: ye tarried not save ten days. 103 We know well what they will say. The most just among them in the matter will declare: 'You have stayed away but one day' 104
