Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you received the news of the Enveloper? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 And cushions ranged 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
