Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?" 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 the Day on which neither wealth will be of any use, nor children, 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 nor do we have a truly sincere friend. 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
