And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 And He Who shall cause me to die, and then shall quicken me. 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 It was the evildoers who led us astray, 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 nor a loving friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
