And a sign for them is the dead land. We gave it life, and We brought forth from it grains, so that they eat thereof. 33 We made in it gardens of date-palms and vines, and We caused springs to gush forth 34 that they might eat of its fruits and their hands' labour. What, will they not be thankful? 35 Glory be to Him, who created all the pairs of what the earth produces, and of themselves, and of what they know not. 36 And a sign for them is the night; We strip it of the day and lo, they are in darkness. 37 And [they have a sign in] the sun: it runs in an orbit of its own [and] that is laid down by the will of the Almighty, the All-Knowing; 38 and [in] the moon, for which We have determined phases [which it must traverse] till it becomes like an old date-stalk, dried-up and curved: 39 It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor does the night outstrip the day. They all float, each in an orbit. 40 And a sign for them is that We carried their forefathers in a laden ship. 41 and created for them similar things to ride. 42 We could have drowned them if We pleased, and none would have answered their cry for help, nor would they have been saved, 43 Except as a mercy from Us and provision for a time. 44 And when it is said to them, “Beware of what is before you and what is behind you, in the hope of your gaining mercy”, they turn away! 45 Indeed, not one of your Lord's signs comes to them without their turning away from it, 46 When they are told to spend for the cause of God out of what He has provided for them for their sustenance, the disbelievers say to the believers, "Should we feed those whom God has decided to feed? You are in plain error." 47 They also say: 'When will this promise be, if what you say is true' 48 They will not (have to) wait for aught but a single Blast: it will seize them while they are yet disputing among themselves! 49 Then they will not be able to make bequest, nor they will return to their family. 50
