The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount, 1 And by oath of a passage, written – 2 In parchment spread open 3 By the much-frequented Fane; 4 and by the lofty vault of the sky, 5 and the sea swarming, 6 Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass, 7 There shall be none to avert it; 8 On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. 9 and the mountains quickly move. 10 Will be the day of woe for those 11 who divert themselves with idle chatter: 12 On the Day whereon they will be pushed into Hell-Fire with a dreadful push. 13 “This is the Hell which you used to give the lie to.” 14 Is this magic? or ye still see not clearly! 15 Endure the heat thereof, and whether ye are patient of it or impatient of it is all one for you. Ye are only being paid for what ye used to do. 16 [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire. 18 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of that which you did' 19 Reclining upon couches ranged in rows; and We shall espouse them to wide-eyed houris. 20 To those who have attained to faith We shall unite their offspring who have also followed them in faith, and We shall not let any of their good deeds go unrewarded; every human being is a pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. 22 They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin. 23 ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. 24 They will turn to one another and ask (regarding the past events). 25 Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah). 26 So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire. 27 we were before ever calling upon Him; surely He is the All-benign, the All-compassionate.' 28
