The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 there is no denying its coming 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And raised couches; 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virgins. 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For those on the right. 38
