Noah (Nooh)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
We sent Noah to his nation, saying: 'Give warning to your nation before a painful punishment overtakes them' 1 He said, 'O my people, I am unto you a clear warner, 2 "That ye should worship Allah, fear Him and obey me: 3 "So He may forgive you your sins and give you respite for a stated Term: for when the Term given by Allah is accomplished, it cannot be put forward: if ye only knew." 4 He said: my Lord! Verily I have called my people night and day. 5 but the more I called, the farther they fled. 6 And every time I called them so that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears and wrapped up their faces with their garments and obstinately clung to their attitude, and waxed very proud. 7 "And behold I called unto them openly; 8 and spoke to them in public and in private." 9 "Ask for forgiveness of your Lord," I said. "Surely, He is the Forgiver. 10 He will let loose the sky upon you in abundance 11 ‘And will aid you with wealth and sons, and will create gardens for you and cause rivers to flow for you.’ 12 What aileth you that ye hope not toward Allah for dignity 13 Knowing that He has created you by various stages? 14 Do you not see how God has created the seven heavens one above another, 15 and has set up within them the moon as a light [reflected] and set up the sun as a [radiant] lamp? 16 God produced you from the earth like a vegetable growth; 17 And thereafter He will cause you to return thereinto, and He will bring you forth a forthbringing. 18 Allah has made the earth spread out for you 19 so that you may walk along its spacious paths?" 20
