The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
