The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 Requital corresponding. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
