Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 In a high Garden 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 Goblets set, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
