The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 About which they differ? 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
