The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 on a great day 5 A Day whereon mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 No indeed! Verily the deeds of the wicked are in the Record locked up in the prison-house! 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 Those who belie the Day of Requital. 11 And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. 12 When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!" 13 Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do! 14 No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned. 15 Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire. 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin. 18 And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun? 19 A Register inscribed. 20 which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 Its seal is upon musk; and for this should those who crave be eager. 26 a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], "These men have surely gone astray," 32 No one has appointed them to watch over the believers. 33 But on the Day [of Judgment,] they who had attained to faith will [be able to] laugh at the [erstwhile] deniers of the truth: 34 On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). 35 "Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?" 36
