The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
