The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
