By the sky with its constellations, 1 and [then bethink thyself of] the promised Day, 2 And by the witnessing day (i.e. Friday), and by the witnessed day [i.e. the day of 'Arafat (Hajj) the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah]; 3 Cursed were the companions of the trench 4 by a burning fire 5 Behold! they sat over against the (fire), 6 And they witnessed (all) that they were doing against the Believers. 7 and their revenge on them was only because they believed in Allah, the Almighty, the Praised, 8 [and] to whom the dominion of the heavens and the earth belongs. But God is witness unto everything! 9 Surely (as for) those who persecute the believing men and the believing women, then do not repent, they shall have the chastisement of hell, and they shall have the chastisement of burning. 10 Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds will have gardens beneath which rivers flow. That is the great attainment. 11 The grip of your Lord is indeed severe, 12 It is He who creates all things and causes them to return. 13 and He is the Forgiving and Loving One. 14 the Owner of the Throne, the Glorious One, 15 a sovereign doer of whatever He wills. 16 Hath there come unto thee the story of the hosts 17 Of Firon and Samood? 18 And yet the Unbelievers (persist) in rejecting (the Truth)! 19 although Allah surrounds them. 20 What is revealed to you is certainly a glorious Quran 21 In the Preserved Tablet. 22
