The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 There is no soul which is not guarded (by the two angels who record all of its deeds). 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 on the Day when all secrets will be laid bare, 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By the rotating heavens 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 Verily, it is a discourse distinguishing. 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
