Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 laboring, wornout, 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 And cushions ranged 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
