Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In a high Garden 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 Goblets set, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
