They will ask you about Dhu'l-Qarnayn. Say, "I will give you an account of him." 83 Lo! We made him strong in the land and gave him unto every thing a road. 84 Then he followed a way. 85 Until, when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it [as if] setting in a spring of dark mud, and he found near it a people. Allah said, "O Dhul-Qarnayn, either you punish [them] or else adopt among them [a way of] goodness." 86 He answered: "As for him who does wrong [unto others] - him shall we, in time, cause to suffer; and thereupon he shall be referred to his Sustainer, and He will cause him to suffer with unnameable suffering. 87 But as for him who believes, and does righteousness, he shall receive as recompense the reward most fair, and we shall speak to him, of our command, easiness.' 88 Then he set out on another expedition 89 Until, when he came to the rising of the sun, he found it rising on a people for whom We had not made against it any shield. 90 So (it was). And We knew all concerning him. 91 Then he followed the road, 92 until when he reached a place between the two mountains, he found beside the mountains a people who scarcely understood anything. 93 They said: 'O Dhu'l-Qarnain, Gog and Magog are oppressing the land. May we pay you some tribute so that you could build a rampart between us and them?" 94 He replied, "The power that my Lord has granted me is better (than your tax). Help me with your man-power and I shall construct a barrier between you and Gog and Magog. 95 "Bring me blocks of iron." At length, when he had filled up the space between the two steep mountain-sides, He said, "Blow (with your bellows)" Then, when he had made it (red) as fire, he said: "Bring me, that I may pour over it, molten lead." 96 And (Gog and Magog) were not able to surmount, nor could they pierce (it). 97 Said [the King]: "This is a mercy from my Sustainer! Yet when the time appointed by my Sustainer shall come, He will make this [rampart] level with the ground: and my Sustainer's promise always comes true!" 98 ۞ And on that day We will leave a part of them in conflict with another part, and the trumpet will be blown, so We will gather them all together; 99 That will be the Day We shall place Hell before the unbelievers 100 Those whose eyes had been within a cover [removed] from My remembrance, and they were not able to hear. 101
