Thamud denied the warning 23 So they said: What! a single mortal from among us! Shall we follow him? Most surely we shall in that case be in sure error and distress: 24 Was there none but he to whom the Reminder could be vouchsafed excluding all others? Nay; he is an insolent liar.” 25 (To him We said): 'Tomorrow they shall know who is the arrogant liar. 26 Behold, [O Salih] We are letting loose this she-camel as a test for them; and thou but watch them, and contain thyself in patience. 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them; every share of the water shall be regulated. 28 Eventually, they summoned their companion, and he undertook the (outrageous) task and hamstrung the she-camel. 29 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 30 We sent a single blast against them, and they were reduced to husks of a decayed fence. 31 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 32 The people of Lut rejected (his) warning. 33 Indeed, We sent upon them a storm of stones, except the family of Lot - We saved them before dawn 34 as a favour from Us. Thus do We reward those who give thanks. 35 And he indeed had warned them of Our blow, but they did doubt the warnings. 36 They even asked of him his guests for an ill purpose. Then We blinded their eyes (and said): Taste now My punishment after My warnings! 37 And certainly a lasting chastisement overtook them in the morning. 38 'Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!' 39 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 40
